All Teams Split!
It took four hours to get most of the water off the field and it was still far from good. But since we were rained out the last two weeks, we desperately needed to get these games in. If we could have gotten the water off a little earlier, the field would have been dry enough for the six o’clock game, but as it was, it was still too muddy to play in. With an extra hour of wind and sunshine, the seven o’clock game was played as scheduled. With both teams maneuvering around the giant mud pits behind first and second base, JUST THE TIP was able to beat HERE FOR BEER 12-6.

For game number two, HERE FOR BEER had some strong innings and took the lead over the BACKDOOR SLIDERS. The BACKDOOR SLIDERS were kept from scoring in the last inning. With the time limit in effect, HERE FOR BEER got their first win of the season, beating the BACKDOOR SLIDERS 13-11.

JUST THE TIP hung around for their second game of the day to take on the BACKDOOR SLIDERS. THE TIP went into the last inning with a big lead, but they couldn’t hold it. Run after run came in for the BS, and the lead was gone. BS scored twelve runs in the last inning to take a demanding lead. They shut out THE TIP in their bottom half to take the game.

As of right now, the playoffs are going to start on May 25th after the first two games of the regular season. Hopefully, most of the playoff positions will be set after next week’s games. But everyone needs to be ready to play at 8:00 pm on May 25th.

Hit For Brains on Top
Even though it rained a little bit, the field was dry and ready to be played on. In the first game JUST THE TIP came out swinging and surprised PUBLIC ENEMA #1. JTT was able to score 15 runs in the win, as they improved to (2-3-1) and currently sit in third place.

HIT FOR BRAINS, coming off of a long vacation, were not rusty at all. They slaughtered HERE FOR BEER 23-1. It would be unfair to blame the loss on BEER’s defensive performance; BRAINS just hit the ball in open areas. With help from the long ball, most of BEER’s outs were from illegal homeruns. BRAINS is still undefeated at (5-0).

In the closest game of the night, BACKDOOR SLIDERS took on the SOFT BALLERS. The SOFT BALLERS were low on female players but that didn’t seem to bother them. Even with taking the mandatory outs in the lineup, they still managed to score 10 runs. Meanwhile, BS only managed to score six in the loss. The SOFT BALLERS will have to beat PUBLIC ENEMA in order to take second place and get the first round bye in the playoffs.

HIT FOR BRAINS returned for the last game to take on the undefeated SOFT BALLERS. This wasn’t much of a match as HFB got 23 runs. The SOFT BALLERS were still able to cross ten players, but it wasn’t enough. HIT FOR BRAINS is now the only undefeated team left in the field.

Playoffs will start next week. We are still looking for a field that we can rent for three hours to finish the playoffs.

Hit For Brains Finish Regular Season Undefeated
HIT FOR BRAINS finished off their regular season undefeated. No other team really gave them a close game. They hit a grand slam in the second inning that busted the game wide open. PUBLIC ENEMA scored some runs, but it wouldn’t be enough.

Lightning and rain started to come down right at the start of the second game. The mud pits became mud puddles, and the field was ruled unplayable.

The games are tentatively rescheduled for this Friday.

Hit For Brains Wins It All
It was a muddy season, but we were able to finish it off. The playoffs were a one day event, but only one field was used. In the quarter finals, HEER FOR BEER must not have gotten the memo that their game was moved to Monday. They didn’t show up, so third ranked, PUBLIC ENEMA got a free ride to the semis.

In the other semifinal, JUST THE TIP and BACKDOOR SLIDERS came out swinging. The BACKDOOR SLIDERS didn’t have enough girls, so they chose to play a competitive game and take the forfeit, than to give up the outs and play to advance. Both teams did not adjust well to the bigger field, so mostly everything dropped for a hit.

For the first semifinal, the SOFT BALLERS could not round up enough players, so they ended up not showing and taking the forfeit. This meant that PUBLIC ENEMA advanced to the championship without ever playing a game.

In the second semifinal, defending champs HIT FOR BRAINS took care of business. They were able to make more plays than JUST THE TIP. They hit the ball to all the corners of the field and the runs started to pile up. The game had to be called early due to the time limit, and HIT FOR BRAINS had plenty of runs to take the victory.

The championship was the best played game all year. PUBLIC ENEMA came out hot. Their two hour warm up did a lot. They were able to cover the huge outfield and make the routine catches. HIT FOR BRAINS made some very unusual blunders that gave the lead to PUBLIC ENEMA for most of the game. It wasn’t until the 5th inning, when HFB started to come back. In the sixth inning it was tied 6-6. HFB was able to score two runs to make it 7-9 going into the top of the 7th. PUBLIC ENEMA was strung a two out rally together and scored two runs to tie it up. In the bottom of the 7th, the leadoff hitter smashed a liner to center that was not caught and went to the wall. He ran all the way around to win the game 9-10.
