Eat a Big Breakfast Stays Undefeated
EAT A BIG BREAKFAST, the name is so powerful, has put themselves at the top of the standings. They came to play Monday night as they took down the GERI HAT TRICKS 8-2. I would have expected a closer game, but BREAKFAST ate their Wheaties. It was just the GHT’s first loss of the season, and I’m sure that they will bounce back from it.

MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM has also moved to (3-0). They beat NO REGRETZKIES 11-6. REGRETZKIES have moved to the bottom of the standings as they are still looking for their first win.

The STONECUTTERS beat PUCK IT in the closest game of the night 6-5. With the win, the STONECUTTERS have solidified themselves as a “snake in the grass.” Not a team that will lead the pack, but in time, they will be able to strike an opponent down when least expected. PUCK IT is still looking for their first win of the season. Next week will be a great opportunity as they take on winless NO REGRETZKIES.

Two Undefeated Teams Left
After one month of the season, two teams have emerged unbeaten. EAT A BIG BREAKFAST took down the STONECUTTERS in a low scoring affair, 4-1. What a defensive battle! This was the lowest scoring game by either team this season. The win has given EABB a record of (4-0), while the STONECUTTERS drop to (1-3).

NO REGRETZKIES got their first win of the season over the winless PUCK IT. After three weeks of torment and unhappy playing, the REGRETKIES found a way to celebrate. They were able to capitalize on mistakes and score nine goals. PUCK IT was only able to get four across the line.

MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM, the other undefeated team, went up against third place GERI-HAT-TRICKS. With both teams in the top half of the standings, we knew we were in for a good one. Both teams were not afraid to put the ball in the goal. But it was MOL that was able come out on top and improves their record to (4-0). The GHT dropped to (2-2) but they are still in third place.
Next week is Memorial Day, so there will be no games. On June 1, we’ll have both undefeated teams go at it 7:30!

Geri Hat Tricks Prevail
Hockey is finally back after the Memorial Day break. In the first game of the night, the GERI HAT TRICKS were able to score seven goals and beat PUCK IT. PUCK IT is still looking for their first victory, and they won the winter league back in March. The GERI HAT TRICKS are staying in the thick of it with a (3-2) record.

The second game consisted of two undefeated teams. EAT A BIG BREAKFAST was short on some players, but they were able to get some subs to make a competitive team. This was a tight game with no team giving in. It came down to the wire, but MIRACLE came out on top and remains the only undefeated team. These teams will probably see each other again.

In the last game, the STONECUTTERS and NO REGRETSKIES made for a competitive game. Both teams came into the game with a (1-3) record. This was also a close game. The STONECUTTERS got the victory and moved into fourth place. REGRETZKIES dropped to fifth.

These were some pretty good hockey games. All three games were decided by 1.33 goals.

And the Walls Fall Down
In the last game of the night, the walls fell down! Unfortunately, the wall fell on the referee. The referee wasn’t seriously hurt, but was in a lot of pain. He was able to finish the game. The game in itself was a low scoring affair. Nobody could score for the first two periods. It wasn’t until the third period that EAT A BIG BREAKFAST was able to find the net. PUCK IT retaliated with their own goal to tie it at 1-1. But BREAKFAST scored two more to take the win 3-1. BREAKFAST remains one game back from MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM.

MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM remains undefeated as they took down the STONECUTTERS 7-4. Next week they play winless PUCK IT to try to finish off their perfect season. The STONECUTTERS fall to (2-4) on the season.

The NO REGRETZKIES put a little ruffle in the standings with their win over the GERI HAT TRICKS. Coming into the game the GHT were two games ahead of the REGRETZKIES. But now it’s down to one. They also leap-frogged the STONECUTTERS in the standings. The GHT didn’t drop any spots, but they did fall farther behind MIRACLE and BREAKFAST.

Miracle Pulls off the Miracle
What a crazy finish to the spring regular season! In the first game, MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM had to beat PUCK IT to keep their perfect season alive. PUCK IT wasn’t going to go down without a fight. Both teams scored their fair share of shots, but it wasn’t going to be a miracle for PUCK IT tonight. They ended up falling 8-5 and finished the regular season without winning a game.

After a slow start to start the season (0-3), the NO REGRETZKIES have won their last 3 out of 4 games to really turn some heads. Their win last night has ranked them third in the standings, with a nice path to the championship. If they are to win their first round game, they will be playing against EAT A BIG BREAKFAST, the team they beat last night 6-3. BREAKFAST has dropped to (5-2) after the loss, but should still be in proper form when they play in two weeks.

In the last game, the STONECUTTERS were on fire. They started to burn the net down with their shots. The GERI HAT TRICKS, usually considered a top-tier team, were unresponsive. It wasn’t a contest, as the STONECUTTERS won 12-6. With the victory, three teams ended the season at (3-4). Tie breakers are then decided by point differential; which resulted in 3. NO REGRETZKIES, 4. GERI HAT TRICKS, 5. STONECUTTERS.

PLAYOFFS View Bracket
Stonecutters, No Regretzkies Advance
The two play-in games of the playoffs went down! The STONECUTTERS advanced to the semifinals with a win over the GERI-HAT-TRICKS. Both teams came into the tournament with a (3-4) record, so it was really anyone’s game. In the end, it was the STONECUTTERS hustle that propelled them to victory. They will have their hands full next week, as they play the undefeated MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM.

In the second play-in game, the NO REGRETZKIES edged out the victory over PUCK IT. PUCK IT really had a disappointing season. They never did win a game. The NO REGRETZKIES will play the number two seeded EAT A BIG BREAKFAST in the semifinals next week.

PLAYOFFS View Bracket
No Regretzkies!
Championship night proved to be a great one! In the first semifinal game, MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first period. It looked like it was going to be a landslide, but the STONECUTTERS answered with a huge 2nd period. With new blood on the court, they scored four straight goals to make it 6-4. The game would go back and forth from there, until MIRACLE scored some last game goals to take the win 10-8.

NO REGRETZKIES took on number two ranked EAT A BIG BREAKFAST. BREAKFAST got out early, but ended up losing the lead. NR played a great game, keeping control of the puck and the pace of the game. NR would win and head to the championship.

With a ten minute break, the NO REGRETZKIES were back on the floor. Both teams were tired, and it was evident on the floor. Both teams headed into the third period, tied 3-3. MIRACLE ON LINOLEUM scored a goal, but REGRETZKIES answered right back. This happened again, making it 5-5 at the end of regulation.

The rule book was brought out to see how the overtime would be played. Both teams dropped one male player from the court. This really opened the court up. Neither team could score and it looked like we’re going to go into double overtime, but with 28 seconds left on the clock, the NO REGRETZKIES slapped in the winning goal!
Congratulations to the NO REGRETZKIES for winning the championship!
